WMH Hosts Legal Outreach Moot Court Event

Walden Macht & Haran LLP

On March 16, 2021, Walden Macht & Haran LLP (“WMH”), in conjunction with Legal Outreach Inc., hosted a moot court event for a group of high school students from underserved communities in New York City.

Legal Outreach, a not-for-profit organization founded over 37 years ago, prepares urban youth for higher education, professional careers, and community leadership by using intensive legal and educational programs as tools for fostering vision, developing skills, and enhancing confidence in one’s ability to achieve lofty goals. Legal Outreach exposes students to future professional career paths and inspires them to strive for excellence.

Approximately 20 students served by Legal Outreach joined WMH for the firm’s moot court event. WMH attorneys provided the students with a brief explanation of the law and a hypothetical fact pattern. The students were then divided into groups, in which they worked with WMH partners, counsel, and associates to prepare arguments, which they presented to moot court “judges” played by attorneys at the firm.

“We are delighted that the mock trial was a success and look forward to working with Legal Outreach to host another event in the near future. The group of student attendees was incredibly impressive,” said WMH attorney Stephanie Levick.

The moot court event was hosted by WMH’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Stephanie Levick and Derek Borchardt organized the program, and over a dozen WMH attorneys and employees participated.
