WMHW Women’s Initiative Hosts Women in Media Panel

The WMHW LLP Women’s Initiative hosted a discussion panel and reception titled “Women in Media,” featuring an extraordinary group of accomplished women discussing their experiences and perspectives as women navigating careers in media. The panelists were Susan Chira, Editor-In-Chief of The Marshall Project; Anna Therese Day, investigative journalist and filmmaker; Eboni K. Williams, lawyer, author, and TV host; and Lana Zak, anchor at CBS News.

Moderated by WMHW associate Deanna Paul and organized by WMHW partners Avni Patel and Catherine Sloane, the event was held in our downtown Manhattan office and attended by nearly 100 guests.

“One of the most important things we can do as women is come together and listen to each other talk frankly. I am thrilled that the WMHW Women’s Initiative resumed its panel series to highlight women in media,” said Avni Patel. “The media plays a powerful role in shaping the way the public consumes facts. Now, more than ever, we need those who report the news to speak from a place of strength and not fear. Our four panelists do this every day and we are so grateful to them for sharing their compelling stories with us.”

“Issues faced by women in the workforce are increasingly a point of discussion. The media plays a unique role not only in amplifying those conversations but also in framing them,” said Deanna Paul. “While our panelists spoke as titans of the media industry, the dialog resonated with those in the room, notwithstanding their profession. This WMHW series provides a special opportunity to learn from and build upon one another’s stories.”
