Walden Macht Haran & Williams Unveils New Name, Adding Milton L. Williams, Jr. to Masthead

Milton L. Williams, Jr., a former federal prosecutor and veteran litigator, joins law firm’s masthead after seven years at the firm and a decades-long career of excellence

NEW YORK (June 27, 2024) – Today, Walden Macht Haran & Williams LLP (WMHW) honors Milton L. Williams, Jr. by adding his name to the Firm’s masthead.  Over the past forty years, Milt has built an enviable career of success, from his beginnings as a State and federal prosecutor, as in-house counsel for Time, Inc., and then in private practice.  Milt’s impressive track record includes trying over 58 cases—both civil and criminal—to verdict. These trials include his defense of Joseph Gerardi on federal public corruption charges in United States v. Percoco in the Southern District of New York—in which Milt obtained the only acquittal, on all counts, in a four-defendant trial.

Prior to launching his career in private practice, Milt served for four years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he was assigned to the Securities & Commodities Fraud Task Force, and served for four years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.  He later served as the Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Time, Inc.

Since moving to private practice, Milt has maintained his commitment to public service, serving on numerous public boards and advisory councils.  He serves, after appointment by Mayor Eric Adams, as Chair of the Conflicts of Interest Board for the City of New York and serves as the Vice Chair of the Attorney Grievance Committee for the First Judicial Department.  He previously served as co-chair of the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption.

A nationally recognized attorney, Milt has garnered distinguished acclaim and accolades from numerous leading publications, including recognitions from Chambers and Partners in Labor & Employment; from Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Litigators in America and one of the 500 Leading Corporate Employment Lawyers; from Benchmark Litigation as a National Practice Area Star in General Commercial Litigation, Intellectual Property, and White Collar Crime and as a Labor and Employment Star; from the New York Law Journal as a distinguished leader; from City & State as part of the Law Power 100 and 50 Over 50; from Crain’s New York Business as a Notable Diverse Leader in Law, and from The National Law Journal as a Litigation Trailblazer.

Jim Walden, Managing Partner, Walden Macht Haran & Williams said, “I was honored when Milt agreed to join our partnership, and I could not be prouder that he is now joining the founders as a named partner.  He exemplifies all the qualities we hold dear.  He is also the most prominent member of the Bar we have among our many amazing partners and is a model for every young lawyer who strives to do good while also doing well.”

“I am very humbled by this honor,” said Milton L. Williams, Jr., Partner, Walden Macht Haran & Williams. “I would like to thank all of my partners for this recognition.”
